At Courage to Change Counseling, we believe problems are created and healed in relationships. Our mission is to offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy that promotes wellness and supports families, couples, and individuals across Southern Oregon.

Meet Marena

Marena Hughes, LMFT

Marena Hughes, LMFT is passionate about working with families, individuals, and couples to co-create change. She believes problems are created and healed in relationships, and she creates supportive, nonjudgmental spaces where connections can be explored and enhanced with acceptance, authenticity, and empathy.

Her approach draws on narrative and existential therapy, grounded in family systems and attachment theory. She specializes in helping couples and families navigate infidelity, grief, medical challenges, parenting, and trauma, and holds certifications in Integrated Behavioral Healthcare, Medical Family Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT.

Marena holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a licensed LMFT in Oregon. She is an approved supervisor candidate and teaches marriage and family therapy at Oregon Institute of Technology.

Meet Amy

Dr. Amy Blankenship, PhD, MSN, RN, QMHP-R

With more than a decade of experience in nursing across acute care, community health, and hospice settings, Amy understands the complex relationship between mental, emotional, and physical health.

Through Courage to Change Counseling, Amy provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their relationship with themselves, their bodies, their emotions, and their overall well-being. Her approach integrates clinical mental health support with her background in nursing, intuitive eating counseling, sound healing, meditation, CBT, eating disorders, and holistic wellness.

Amy believes meaningful change begins with feeling safe, understood, and genuinely heard. Her work is grounded in compassion, connection, and evidence-informed care, helping clients move toward greater self-understanding, resilience, and a more authentic sense of well-being.
